Joan Marlene Stewart, 88, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at her home in St. George, Utah.

Marlene was born on February 8, 1935 in Baltimore Maryland to Charles Martin Scott and Genevieve Grace McClain.  She was known for her generous acts of service, her quick mind and witty sense of humor.  She always knew how to make you laugh and was a joy to have a conversation with.  Marlene loved music and was an accomplished pianist.

Marlene was raised in Baltimore and attended a semester at BYU – Provo before meeting her sweetheart, Gordon Jay Stewart.  They were married on September 8, 1958.  Together they raised their children in the San Bernardino, California area before moving to San Diego, Nampa, Idaho, Alpine, Utah and eventually settling in St. George after serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints there.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon, and her five children: Sandy Fiero, Scott (Sandy) Stewart, Shelley (Dave) Warwick, Steve (Valarie) Stewart and Shawn Stewart; her brother, Ron Scott, and her twenty grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one grandson.

Marlene requested a graveside service only which will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 1:30 pm at the Tonaquint Cemetery where she will be interred under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.
