Allan Tracy

September 7, 1943 — August 7, 2015

Allan Lafe Tracy peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on August 7, 2015 in St. George, UT.  Allan was born to Charley Harvey Tracy and Inez Jackson Tracy on September 7, 1943 in Cortez, Colorado.  He grew up on the Tracy farm in Cahone, Colorado with his trusty horse, Dobin.  As a youth, "Red" slept in the bunkhouse with his brothers and loved to hunt and drive fast cars.

Fortunately for him, he fell in love with a girl from Eastland, Utah.  He married Diane Johnson in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on October 14, 1969.  Allan and Diane shared forty-five years together and found great joy in raising 7 children and 17 grandchildren.

Allan was genuine, loved to serve everyone around him, and was an example of kindness.  He was most happy when those around him were happy.  Everyone needed a little "Uncle Allan Time."  Allan enjoyed the simple things in life including vanilla ice cream, corn on the cob, and a good steak.  He loved to play the guitar and sing with his daughters.  Allan was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed visiting with his neighbors and family, especially his sisters.

By profession, Allan spent over 45 years as a driller throughout the western United States.  Later in his career, he focused his work in southeastern Utah.  Allan loved the challenge of drilling and enjoyed his time outdoors, especially with his sons.

After a lifetime in Eastland, Utah, Allan and Diane moved to St. George in 2011.  While there, they served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He loved their mission, although his favorite church calling was as a nursery leader in the Eastland Branch.

Allan is survived by seven children.  Rachelle (Darren) Cox of Henderson, NV. Toni, La Verkin, UT; Sam (Candy), Salt Lake City, UT; Lesli (Adam) Smith, Akron, OH; Jodi (Ben) Cope, Enterprise, UT; Vicki, Salt Lake City, UT; Kenneth, Salt Lake City, UT.  He is survived by seventeen grandchildren:  Ashley, Courtney, Dallin, Erin, Bryan, Madison, Addison, Reid, David, Ellie, Carter, Ollie, Roger, Lafe, Jonny, Gibson, and Harvey.  Allan is also survived by his siblings, Guy (Ginger) Tracy, Carol (Jack) Brewer, Pat (Gail) Tracy, LuAnne (Steve) Oldham, and Kathy (Ken) Anderson.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gary Robert Tracy.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 15 at 11:00 am in Eastland, Utah at the Eastland Chapel.  A viewing will be from 9:30-10:45 am prior to the service. Interment will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Eastland, Utah. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
