Anna Brady Maurer, 78, of Hurricane, Utah, died Dec. 27th after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born July 27, 1936, Anna lived a full and noble life. She exemplified the attitude that "the show must go on" just prior to her passing.
Anna was the second of five daughters born to the late Lionel and Ivy Brady in Fairview, Utah. She danced her way through life beginning as a young acrobatic performer, then cheerleader, then dancer. She graduated from Jordan High School in 1954, and received her bachelors degree in Physical Education from Brigham Young University in 1958. Anna met the love-of-her-life David W. Maurer while attending BYU and described him as "the most handsome and funniest guy I’d ever laid eyes on". They were married for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City temple in 1958.
Anna was an accomplished artist taking a special delight to oil painting. Her talent was recognized by professionals and collectors alike, with many of her works receiving prestigious awards, invitations for exhibition in local galleries, and decorating homes with personal beauty and emotion. Anna was also admired particularly by her children and grandchildren for her unmatched baking skills. She warmed hearts and shared love with everyone through her delectable homemade pies, cakes, cookies, bread, rolls, and other treats. Her Thanksgiving coconut cream pie will never be forgotten.
Anna was a steadfast and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and remained a supreme example to all that knew her. She will forever be remembered for her strength, obedience, conviction and endurance exemplified throughout her life. She touched the lives of so many with her genuine capacity to love and nurture.
Anna is survived by her loving husband of 55 years David W. Maurer, four children: Annette Maurer Breen Edgette (Van); Michael David Maurer (Laurel); Bradley Ryan Maurer (Alex); Dianne Maurer Gessel (Reggi); eight grandsons, three great grandchildren, and many other extended family members and friends who will all miss her dearly.
The show will go on Mom, but it won’t be the same without you.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 28th, 11:00am at Hurricane 19th ward chapel, 658 West 1500 South, Hurricane, Ut. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6-8pm and one hour prior to services at the same chapel location. Graveside dedication will be held on Dec. 30th at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
The Family would like to extend their gratitude to the numerous “angels” from Dixie Home Hospice who so lovingly and professionally helped care for Anna.
