Anthony Delprete

Anthony DelPrete Jr. aged 78 passed away on October 18, 2013 in St. George, Utah after a long battle with myelofibrosis. He was born on May 6, 1935 in Brooklyn New York to Antonio DelPrete and Josephine Lombardi DelPrete . He married the love of his life Gloria Ann Lang Karl in 1987 in Baldwinsville, NY. He is survived by his children Christine DelPrete, Elaine Sawyer (Bill) and Mike DelPrete (Stefanie) as well as Stepchildren Bill Karl (Patti), Kenneth Karl (Risa) and Peter Karl (Cindy) 16 grandchildren and his little dog Cocoa.
Tony taught geology and oceanography at the State University of New York in Oswego for 34 years until he retired to St. George in 1997. He traveled extensively all over the world, but his passion was trains. He has always collected model trains and enjoyed setting up a miniature railroad in his garage. He also rode all over the western states on Amtrak. He and Gloria always made new friends wherever they went. He delighted in classical music as well as reading, photography, politics and formula one racing.
He never gave up his passion for learning, teaching in the Elderhostel program after retirement and taking ICL classes. Tony and Gloria enjoyed touring with the RV group Color Country Ramblers. Tony was a very loving and supportive husband and father. His relaxed and happy attitude, combined with his keen sense of humor, made him a joy to be with. He will be missed.
