Arlene Deon Thayn 76, passed through the veil surrounded by her greatest art, her family after a courageous and long battle with Lung Cancer. She is now reunited with her Father in Heaven and her Eternal Companion, Kenny.
Arlene was born April 29, 1934 to Lorenzo (Ole) and Deon Olson. She loved and served her Mother, Father and three brothers, Don, Carl and Ron. Arlene had many friends because of her sincere kindness. She had wonderful memories of her youth especially those with her cousin and best friend Bonnie. Arlene graduated from South H.S., and later received a degree from S.L.C.C. She married the love of her life, Kenneth E. Thayn in the Salt Lake Temple on June 23, 1953. They proceeded to work and raise their legacy, a family of 8, with modesty, virtue, and honor. Arlene was a charitable mother always making sacrifices for her family. Arlene was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served faithfully in many capacities. Arlene enjoyed playing the piano and organ with great gusto. She was a talented artist, mastering the canvas with color and life much like the way she lived hers. She was a poet.
Arlene knew the importance of genealogy and had a firm foundation of where she came from and taught these values through her words and teachings.
We will miss our mother, grandma, grandma great terribly, but are happy for her to be released of her pain to join her sweetheart. We Love you Mom, we will think of you often, say “Hi” to Dad for us. Well done thou good and faithful servant, well done!
Arlene is survived by her children Joyce (Joe) Mangus, Lorna (Tom) Strong, Kathlene (Jerry) Millgate, Larry (Shannon) Thayn, Shirlene Laney, Karan Genessy, and Joshua Kody (Marisa) Thayn,
23 Grandchildren and 18 Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, July 7,2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bloomington Hills 6th Ward Chapel, 750 Fort Pierce , St. George. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services, both will be held at the church. Interment at Tonaquint Cemetery.
