Ashby (Hap) Reeve was born April 26, 1921 passed away February 13, 2016 in Hurricane, Ut. Born to Harold and Artie Jepson Reeve. Ashby married and was sealed for all time and eternity to Iva Gibson. November 12, 1942 in St George Temple. They were married for 73 years.
Ashby was raised in a farming and ranching family, which he loved doing all his life. Ashby and his loving wife Iva were working as partners in their farming and ranching endeavors. Their great joy was working on their cattle ranches on the Arizona strip.
Ashby was a World War ll Veteran of the 91st Infantry. Starting in North Africa, going to Sicily , then went to the toe of Italy, fighting all the way through Italy, stopping to fighting in the Battle of The Gothic Line. Finishing in Belgium with Patton's army.
Ashby was very civic minded, serving on the Hurricane Canal Board, member of the American Legion, member of the American Cattle Association, member of the Hurricane Roping Club, and many more activities.
Ashby was in many western movies. He raised race horses and jockeyed in many races.
Ashby and Iva were Grand Marshall of the Hurricane Peach Days in 2001. For many many years there wasn't a parade that didn't have Hap and his team of horses in parades. One of his greatest joys was taking people on rides with his wagon and horses; mainly Christmas caroling.
Ashby's greatest joy in life was playing and doing things with his grandchildren. He loved all of his grandchildren very much and they loved him dearly.
Survived by his wife Iva, Daughters Vicky JoLean Hansen Surprise, AZ, Artie (Steve) Stratton Las Vegas, NV, Iva Lyn (Neil) Wright Hurricane UT, Son John LaVan (Annie) Hurricane, UT, Daughter Bernice Hurricane, UT. 11 Grandchildren 19 great Grandchildren 22 great great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 20, 2016, 1:00 pm, at the LDS Church located at 1178 S. 700 w. Hurricane, Utah. Visitations will be Friday, February 19th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Saturday from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm, also at the church. Interment will take place in the Hurricane Cemetery.
Everyone is welcome to bring their own horse and ride to the cemetery to send th Ole Cowboy off is style.
