1927 – 2010

Betty Lou Lien passed away on December 4, 2010 in St. George, UT surrounded by her family.

Betty was born September 19, 1927 in the family home in Raymond, MT to Johnny and Mathilda Stewart. She attended schools in Raymond and Outlook, MT and graduated from Outlook High School in 1945. She married Howard Lien on March 14, 1949 in Plentywood, MT. Betty and Howard moved to Grenora, ND where Betty worked for a short time as a telephone operator and Howard managed the Farmers elevator. All three of their children were born while Betty and Howard lived in Grenora. Betty loved being a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. In 1965 the family moved to Fairfield, MT. Betty worked as a teacher's aide at Fairfield Elementary and as the Fairfield town clerk for many years.

Betty loved to sew, crochet, and bake. We will miss her Christmas care packages of cookies and other treats. In her retirement years in Fairfield, Betty spent her time decorating her home and taking care of her beautiful flower gardens. She loved butterflies and had several decorative pieces in her home.

In 2005 Howard and Betty moved to St. George, UT to be near their children. Howard passed away in May 2010. Betty is survived by her children, Rick (Kathy), Tim (Lil), and Susan (Jim) Hohenboken; grandchildren, Kris (Kim) Lien and Katie (Brett) Lien and her beautiful great-granddaughter, Olivia. She is also survived by a sister, Jackie Bridges. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Floyd Stewart and sisters, June Scott and Muriel Johnson.

The family would like thank the staff at Cliff View Senior Living Community in St. George for their loving care over the past several months. An open house will be held at Cliff View on Saturday, December 18 from 2-4 PM. Interment will be at the Highland Cemetery in Outlook, MT.
