Washington, UT - William 'Bill' Joseph Quibell, 60, passed away in his home on July 28, 2011, after a well fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Although he was told it was terminal from the beginning he never gave up the fight. He was born November 28, 1950 in Williams, Arizona to William Quibell and Margaret Joosten Quibell. He was married to Kathy Mae Bishop in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 24, 1994.
Born in Arizona his family moved frequently throughout his childhood, Bill had a love for cars that began at a young age and remained throughout his life. He continued to relocate as a young man, working various jobs, often involving mechanics to be able to care for his three young children that he was raising on his own. He then began working as a tool pusher in the oil rigs in the late 1970s, his fourth child was born in 1981, and he continued this work until he settled in Salt Lake City, UT in 1983. His fifth child was born in 1985 and several years later he opened his first automotive shop in 1988, Fay's Service. This would eventually lead to the opening of his second business, Tri City Automotive and RV (later Tri City Auto and Towing), in Washington, UT. Tri City remained not only owned, but operated by Bill and Kathy until the onset of his illness. He was a large part of the St. George community for many years and enjoyed the ability to help stranded motorist as they traveled along I-15. Many of his employees not only worked there for years, but remained supportive after his illness became apparent.
Above all, Bill had a zest for life that he shared with all that knew him. He worked hard, but he played even harder. He loved camping, boating, fishing, and waterskiing along with hot rods. Hot rods and recreation combined into the sand buggies he built and pushed to their limits either in the sand or mud. Of all the locations he camped and enjoyed, the Little Sahara Dunes, Lake Powell, and Fish Lake remained his favorites. He and Kathy also loved long rides on their Honda Goldwing and were active members in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, St. George Chapter, for many years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Kathy; his five children: Scott (Emily), Tammy (Andy ), Billie Jo (Sean), Lisa, and Suzanne; sister Sherrie; twelve grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. At his request, no services will be held.
