Billy Tedreck

May 3, 1944 — February 13, 2016

“I have lived a long and happy life.”

Those were Billy Tedrecks last words before he rested in peace on the early morning of February 13, 2016. He was at peace with all that he had pursued and accomplished in life. Tedreck was born and raised in Clayton, Oklahoma on May 3rd, 1944. In his young early years, he honorably served in the military for the US Army in the 70’s. In 1973, he later joined the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in California where he met and married Apoua Tuita Faumuina, the daughter of a prominent Paramount Chief from American Samoa where she was born and raised. Billy always complimented, “She was the best thing that ever happened to me.”

After visiting the homeland of his wife, he instantly fell in love with the island and the people. Billy as an innovator with an unparalleled eye for opportunities, he soon after settled there to establish ‘Tedi of Samoa’ a shopping center in 1977. That was the first of many successful ventures and investments by the Tedrecks, like The Country Club, a fast food chain, a Recreational Hall, a Night Clubs, a Movie Theater to name a few. These later expanded to the neighboring islands of Manu’a and The Kingdom of Tonga. He believed in giving back to the people and the community, by donating to various charities, organizations and honorable causes.

After 29 years of sacrifices for themselves and others, they retired in 2006 and moved to the mainland and settled in St. George, Utah. Billy instantly inserted himself in to finding ways to help the community, he was selected to be one of the group writers for the SPECTRUM
an E-Newspaper - PART OF THE USA TODAY NETWORK. Tedreck, a Professional Hunter in his early years, never stopped hunting, he was a conquerer to the end. He was also an avid golfer, attending the Masters and tournaments, both domestically and internationally.

Among all of his accomplishments and successes with utmost integrity, he was always true to himself and never allowed wealth to define him. Billy is a legendary master piece! He will be truly missed. ApouaTedreck and Family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation for all the expressions of love and kindness shown. Thank You So Much. Fa’afetai Tele Lava.
