Blanche Hawkes, 89, passed away February 14, 2016 in St. George, Utah. She was born June 10, 1926 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Harold and Mary Edna Wood Hawkes. She married Arnold Schwenn in San Francisco in 1946. They later moved to Wisconsin where they had six children and later divorced.
Blanche is preceded in death by her parents Harold & Edna Hawkes, her son Alan, sisters Adriene, Theresa, Leona, Louise, Olive, and brother Harold (Bud).
She is survived by her children Craig (Patti) Schwenn of Oregon, Wisconsin; Michael Schwenn of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Karla Schwenn of Boulder, Colorado; Beverly Schwenn of St. George, Utah; and Denise (Johnny) Mackun of St. George, Utah; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her beloved cat BamBam.
Blanche was a wonderful mother to her children working hard to provide for her family. Blanche retired from Sweetwater Memorial Hospital Rock Springs, Wyoming. Upon her retirement she moved to St. George, Utah to be closer to family. Blanche also worked at the Bloomington Walmart for over 10 years until her retirement in 2012. Our Mother was an avid reader, enjoyed sewing, spending time with friends, family and grandchildren. She also gave freely of her time doing volunteer work for hospice.
A celebration of her life will be held June 11, 2016 from 11:00-2:00 at the Tonaquint Park, 1851 S. Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
