Bonnie Jean Folland Moore, 91, passed away December 9, 2018 in Ivins, Utah.
She was born January 6, 1927 in Salt Lake City, UT to Josephine Howells Folland and Richard Earl Folland. She was the middle child of their three beautiful daughters. She married Gene Moore November 25, 1946 in the Salt Lake Temple of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They have five children, Melody (Bill), Larry (Carol), Brent (Robyn), Scott (Ninon), and Ryan (Melissah). She has twelve grandchildren, soon to be 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren from Hawaii to Texas.
At age 10 she accompanied her parents on a Mission for the restored Church of Jesus Christ to South Africa before the US entered WWII while her parents served as Mission President in Cape Town. Due to the war they were compelled to remain for the duration and she returned home at age 17. Shortly thereafter was introduced to her sweetheart, who just celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary together. They eventually built their dream home in Mt Olympus in Salt Lake City where a sign hung (still on their patio today in Ivins) that reads, “These are the Good Old Days” as their posterity was taught to love and live happily in the moment.
The family is so grateful to those who have rendered loving care: Georgia, Cindy, her daughter Melody, her neighbor son Scott and Ninon and her loving husband Gene. When Gene asked her Father for her hand in marriage, her father accepted only after Gene promised to always take of care of her. He fulfilled his promise with love to the very last day.
She is survived by her dear husband, Gene; children; grandchildren; and many wonderful extended family members.
Her funeral will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 11:00am at the Red Cliffs 8th Ward Chapel located at 625 East Center Street, Ivins, Utah. Friends may call between 9:45 and 10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Ivins City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations made be made for the Moore family headstone.
