Burton Durr

September 2, 1934 — December 7, 2017

Burton Wesley Durr, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday December 7, 2017 in St. George, Utah.

Burt was born on September 2, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio to Willis Henry Durr and Ada Leona Bridenbaugh.  He married his high school sweetheart Glenda Joan Williams on January 28, 1955 in El Paso, Texas.  They later solemnized their marriage in the Mesa Arizona Temple.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and disciple of Jesus Christ.  He lived a life of service for the LDS church as a Bishop (May1979-May1982) Counselor in the Stake Presidency (May 1982-December 1990) in El Paso, Texas.  He also served as Scout Master, High Priest Group Leader, Stake Mission Leader, and many years with his wife as a Temple Worker.

Retired after 38 years of service working for Mountain Bell in El Paso, Texas he moved to Utah and built his dream home in Erda and later moved to St. George.

He is survived by his wife Glenda and three sons Michael (Kay) of North Carolina, David (Sharon) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Paul (Stacy) of St. George, Utah, and his sister Elizabeth Ann Pritchett of Texas.  Burt had 16 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers - Charles, Robert, Clifford, and granddaughter Haile.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Crimson Ridge Chapel in Little Valley at 2436 E. Crimson Ridge Road, St. George, Utah. A Viewing will be held prior to funeral services from 9:30 am - 10:30 am. Interment will be at Tonaquint Cemetery.
