Our beloved Mom, Carolyn Ann Remund Barton, age 81, passed away peacefully in her home in St. George, Utah on February 5, 2018. She was born October 30, 1936 in Granger, Utah and was the third child of six born to Lynnel A. and Marianne Fritsch Remund. She married Karl Gordon Barton on September 27, 1957 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.
Carol graduated from Cyprus High School and was awarded a scholarship to Cosmetology school. She went on to work professionally as a stylist at Gordon’s Beauty Salon in Sugarhouse before starting her family but continued to be her family's very own personal stylist. She had so many talents. She was an excellent seamstress. She loved making clothes, costumes and especially Christmas pajamas; a favorite family tradition. She was an avid reader and continually loved to learn. Her witty sense of humor brought laughter to our family. She made the home a wonderful place to be with her amazing homemaking skills and unconditional love.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Her creativity and love of study made teaching Relief Society one of her favorite callings.
Of all the responsibilities and roles throughout her life, Carol’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her six children; Kelly (Kaye) Barton, David (Kerri) Barton, DeAnna (Rand) Simkins, Alan Barton (Matt Schenk), Wendy (Bryan) Tucker, Kim (Scott) Webb, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Karl and granddaughter, Lauryn Ann Webb.
Private graveside service at Tonaquint Cemetery.
