Charles Fredrick Groth passed away peacefully on July 10, 2023 at his home in St. George Utah. Charles was born in Altadena, California on July 27, 1938. He often spoke of his childhood years, growing up in Avila Beach, where he shared fond memories with his two sisters, Diane Bluestone and Josephine Monte Teter. His sisters and mother, Constance May Montgomery Soules, all preceded Charles in death.
Charles joined the Coast Guard at age 18 and honorably served for 4 years. He attended San Jose State University and taught elementary school as a substitute teacher. Later, Charles became a restless soul and sold handmade jewelry as a street artist in San Francisco. He then dabbled in real estate before finally moving to St. George 15 years ago. Charles is survived by his nephews, Jerry (Yvonne) Borrowman of St. George, Utah, Carl Teter of Nevada, John Bluestone of California, and Kirsten Lennen, also of California, who held a special place in his heart. Charles’ wish was to gift his body to the University of Utah School of Medicine, 520 Wakara Way, Salt Lake City, UT 84112. Please send any donations made in his memory there.
