On July 8, 2012 Charles Collier McConkie, age 65, returned home to his Heavenly Father after a long battle with health ailments. At his passing he was at his beloved home in LaVerkin, Utah surrounded by caring family members.

Charlie began his life Dec 6, 1946 when he was born to Brigham Enos and Nellie Elizabeth Collier McConkie in Vernal Utah. Charlie's siblings are Alberta Dobbs, Calvin Jones (deceased), Alma (Judy) Jones, and Harold (Petra) Jones.

Charlie was married to Geraldine Caldwell and had 4 children; Charlotte (Keith) Williams, Preston McConkie, Anthon McConkie, Shara (James) Mitchell. Charlie later married Janet Alexander who brought 1 more child, Anita (Dale) Ralph into his life. Charlie has 18 grandchildren and is preceded in death by 1 great grandson, Oliver Mendez.

Charlie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed serving a mission to Mississippi with his loving wife of 20 years. At the time of his passing, they were serving a mission at the Family Search Library in St. George, UT.

Charlie was a man without malice. He loved helping others, growing amazing gardens, canning his earth's bounties and generously sharing all of it. He was a shining example of how to meet a challenge with courage and faith. He has moved on to meet the next challenge head on, still preparing the way for others to follow.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the LaVerkin 7 th Ward Chapel, 70 South 300 West, LaVerkin UT. A viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 prior to services at the church. Graveside service and Interment will be at the Vernal Memorial Cemetery in Vernal, Utah on Thursday July 12, 2012 at 3:00 pm.
