Charles Pryor Nelson, 80 years old, born May 19, 1942 in Cedar City, Utah, to parents Edward Andrew Nelson and Margaret Pryor, died May 7, 2023 in St. George, Utah.

Charles, AKA Chuck, Charlie, was raised in Boulder City, Nevada spending his summers farming with the Pryor family in Cedar City, Utah. He learned at a very early age the importance of working hard, getting the work done so he could spend fun time with the cousins and other friends.

After graduating high school he attended College of Southern Utah in Cedar City with a baseball scholarship. After evaluating his life and realizing he needed to make some needed changes, he decided the best thing would be for him to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was called to serve a 30 month mission in Spanish Speaking Central America, all six countries. After completion of that service he returned to college in Cedar City. He graduated with an Associate Engineering Degree then transferred to Utah State University in Logan, Utah to earn his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He moved to Boulder City, Nevada and worked for Holmes & Narver Engineering at the Nevada Test Site. He became the City Engineer of Boulder City, Nevada. The family later moved to California when Charles was appointed Project Director of the South Pacific Projects. At the completion of that he moved the family to Ivins, Utah.

Charles loved to play baseball, golf, hunt, dance and play games with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by son Jerry Duane Nelson, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Pennie Nelson, 7 living children, Troy Nelson (Lydia), Angela Sherrill, Dona Ross (Andrew), Deana Hinchcliff (Lora), Lisa Watson (James), David Hale (KayLynn), Rashell Nicholson (Nick); 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren
