Connie Mitchell James
May 17, 1944 – March 25, 2012
Connie James, mother, wife, sister and a ‘Great’ grandma passed away on March 25, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer.
On May 17, 1944 Connie was born to Ronald L and Jean Jones Mitchell early in the morning on a day soon filled with sunshine. She had no idea she would become the leader of four more siblings who expected her to be there for their every need. And that, she was. She married her Davis High School boyfriend Raymond L Blood and had two beautiful daughters, Robin and Marcie. Together with Raymond’s daughter Debbie, they lived in Sunset, Utah. Their adventurous life allowed them to live in such exotic locations as Boise, Idaho and Albequerque, New Mexico. She was later divorced and returned to live in Ogden, Utah.
Connie married Merlin James on St. Patrick’s Day in 1987 and has lived in St. George, Utah for the past 20 years. She loved the sunshine, but hated the heat. Her patio was her refuge where she and Mer spent late afternoons in the shade, enjoying life. She worked for State Farm Insurance for many years as an office manager, retiring in 2008.
Connie loved her children and adored her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a wonderful mother and a ‘Great” Grandma! Her daughter Robin Wilkinson gifted her with three boys, Chasyn, who gifted her with her first great-granddaughter Grayceelynn, Bryan and wife Araceli who gifted her with another great grand-daughter Jiselle (just 10 days later) and Dayton. Her daughter Marcie gifted her with two boys, Devyn and Colby Hardison. Connie has two more great-grandchildren waiting in the wings who will miss knowing their ‘Great’ Grandma.
Connie is also survived by three sisters, Vicki (Brent) Carlin, Riverdale, UT, Kim (Joe Taylor) Carlos, Ogden, UT, and Jill McQuirk, Riverdale, UT. She is preceded in death by her brother Ronny and her parents and grandparents.
