COREY MICHAEL SMITH, 26, of St. George, UT, passed away Sunday, November 13th, after a motorcycle accident. He was born in Walnut Creek, CA on December 5, 1989 to John and Terese Smith. As a young boy Corey moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada.
While in his youth Corey participated in many after school sports including football, volleyball, and tennis. He was also actively involved with the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout. During his high school years you could always find Corey on the dance floor at the local church dances on Saturday night. He always had a way of entertaining the masses and enjoying every day as if it were his last. In 2008 Corey graduated from Silverado High School and began working for AM or PM Towing, the family business, while he decided what he wanted to do next. He spent a semester at Snow College and a few years in Logan, Utah before finally landing in St. George, the place he would call home. Corey started working at George’s Corner Restaurant in 2014 and climbed the service ranks until he ultimately landed as a bartender.
Corey loved interacting with people and had a way about him that made everyone feel like he was their best friend. When Corey wasn’t working you could find him at the gym perfecting some crazy pull up sequence or hitting another weightlifting goal. Corey was always striving to be better; mentally, physically, or spiritually there was always something Corey could improve on. Corey had a passion for life that was contagious and an enthusiasm for music that was unrivaled. It was hard to not love Corey and his over the top excitement for life.
Corey is survived by his brothers Tyler and Sean Smith, his sister Ashley Coe, 7 nephews, 6 nieces, his loving parents John and Terese, and his Grandmother Nancy Perry. Although there is no substitute for the physical presence and affection of one so vibrant and so young, we take comfort in knowing that Corey is safely home with his Father in Heaven. How blessed we are for the knowledge of eternal families and the promised blessings of the temple that will allow us to be with Corey again.
His wonderful spirit, exuberant personality, multiple talents, and larger than life attitude will be celebrated at an 11:00 o’clock memorial service on Saturday, November 19th in the LDS chapel located at 10230 Bermuda Road, Las Vegas, NV 89183. A graveside service will follow on Monday, November 21st at the St. George City Cemetery located at 650 East Tabernacle, St. George, UT 84770 at 11:00 o’clock. After the graveside service a gathering of friends and family will be meeting at George's Corner Restaurant on the Boulevard, all are invited to attend.
