D. Brent Stephens of St. George, Utah passed away of natural causes, on Wednesday, December 1st, 2010, of at the age of 71. He was born and raised in Ogden, Utah, March 26, 1939. He is the son of Harold J. and Mary Esther Stephens (deceased), of Ogden, Utah. He is survived by his eternal mate, Geraldine (Gerri) Stephens. They were married in the Salt Lake City Temple in 1964.
Brent is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many teaching and leadership positions, with the youth and was a first counselor in the Bishopric where they lived in Washington State. He graduated from Weber State College in 1964 . He received his Bachelor degree from Utah State College with honors in 1966. He went on to receive his Masters in Teaching from Wayne State College in Detroit Michigan, with honors, in 1970. After accepting teaching position, Brent moved his family to Vancouver, Washington to open the first Electronics Program. Brent and Gerri raised their family there and he taught for 39 years before he retired. During his career he took his students to Soul Korea for placing 10th in the International Electronics Competition (VICA). Brent and Gerri retired to Las Vegas, Nevada, and lived there for 11 years then later moved to St. George, Utah. Brent had many talents and hobbies. Through the years he and Gerri owned an Arcade and a photography studio. Family was very important to him and he loved to take them water-skiing, camping and fishing. He always made sure to come and see his family in Utah each year. He was talented with mechanics and wood working. He helped build their first home in Brush Prairie, Washington.
In addition to his eternal mate, Gerri, he is survived by 4 children and their spouses, 5 siblings and 16 grandchildren. His children are Kimberly (Mark) Bassett of Frisco, Texas, Damon (Lisa) Stephens of Gilbert, Arizona, Lance (Sheila) Stephens of Cedar City, Utah and Tara (Brian) Howard of St. George, Utah. His Grandchildren are Brad, Tyler, Parker, Rachel, Spencer and Sarah Bassett ; Marisa, Lexxi, Dylan and Ryan Stephens; Bryson, Natalie and Angelina Stephens; Braiden, Jace, Keira and Dallen Howard. His siblings are Jay (Sharyn) Stephens of Bear River City, Utah, Cheryl (LeRoy) Wilde of Roy, Utah, Craig (Verdeen) Stephens of Roy, Utah, Paul (Debbie) Stephens of Tremonton, Utah and Scott Stephens of North Ogden, Utah.
Brent was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and friend. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the LDS Chapel on 449 South 300 East, St. George. A viewing will be held 12:00 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery.
