Daniel Barney

Daniel Irvin Barney passed away August 17, 2018 in Hurricane, Utah at the age of 79.

He is survived by his wife, LaVon Peters Barney, children Todd Barney (Cathy), Dannette Scholzen (Keith), and Ronda Cypher (Terry).

Dan grew up in Virgin, Utah where he made many lifelong friends.  He graduated from Hurricane High School and soon after joined the Navy.  While on leave from the Navy he found LaVon with some help from his mother Lula.  Dan and LaVon were married in 1964 and later sealed for eternity in 1984.  He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Hill AFB, and as a brick mason in Southern Utah and finally as the head custodian at Hurricane High School.  He loved to be with his family.  He was a talented guitarist and would play and sing at the house and around the campfire.  He loved to camp, ride 4 wheelers and motorcycles and explore all of Southern Utah.  He loved to work with wood and made many treasures for his children and grandchildren.

Dan is survived by LaVon and all his children, 11 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren, his brother Earl (Bud), and his sister Maurine.  Dan was preceded in death by his parents Lula Morgan Barney and Irvin Barney, brothers Jim and Daryll.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00am at the Hurricane Red Brick Chapel located at 274 S.100 W., Hurricane, Utah.  Viewings will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday morning prior to the funeral from 9:30-10:45am at the same location.
