Daniel Holt

Our beloved Father, Son, Brother and Friend, Daniel Shirl Holt, 47, passed away November 1, 2014 in St. George Utah, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in St. George on June 24, 1967 to Shirl and Mary Holt. He was the 2nd of 10 children. Dan grew up in Phoenix Arizona and had tons of friends everywhere he went. Those who knew him best called him 'Dan-O', 'Dan The Man' or 'Danny Boy'. He was always full of energy and so much fun to be around. Dan had an awesome sense of humor and could fill a room when he told his stories. He was also the king of one-liners, such as '100 pounds of flour makes a mighty big biscuit'. He always liked to keep the mood light, upbeat and happy. Dan loved to be outdoors whether he was dirt biking, shooting, camping or fishing. But most of all, he loved spending time with family. He was very protective of those he loved. Dan was a very forgiving and non-judgmental person. Dan married Kimberly Kay Nelson September 24, 1988 in St. George. They were later divorced. They were blessed with 5 sons: Tyson, 25; Brady, 23; Kadan, 19; Kobe, 16; Kelton, 14. Dan's boys were and always will be the most important people in his life. He was so proud of each of them & loved to spend time with them. Dan was a strong, tough man with a heart of gold. He was so tender, loving and kind. He was never afraid or ashamed to show his feelings. Dan loved people and he loved animals. He always had a big dog to pal around with. He was also amazing with children and was a big tease. All of his nieces and nephews loved to spend time with him. Dan will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Dan is survived by his children - Tyson, Brady, Kadan, Kobe, Kelton Holt; parents - Shirl and Mary Holt; siblings - Melanie (Kason Burgess) Cedar City, Debbie (Lane Johnson) Logan, Tim, St. George, Steve (Jamie) St. George, Greg (Lindsey) St. George, Monica, San Diego CA, Brandon, Dickinson ND, Andrea (Martin Schijf) St. George, Natalie (Sam Murray) Phoenix AZ; 18 nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Bloomington Hills LDS Chapel 1222 E. Brigham Road, St. George Utah. Viewing will be held Wednesday, November 5 from 6-8 pm and Thursday, November 6 from 9-10:30 am prior to services at the same location. Interment will be at 3:30 pm at The Holt Family Cemetery in Enterprise Utah, under the direction of McMillan Mortuary (435)688-8880. Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com
