Dean Dalton Gifford, age 61, passed away on May 15, 2015, after valiantly enduring cancer for many years. Dean was born on January 16, 1954 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Gerald and Aleath Gifford. He grew up in Southern Utah and graduated in 1972 from Dixie High, where he was involved in many clubs and activities and was the captain of the football and wrestling teams. It was there that he met his future wife and eternal companion, Debra Allred Gifford. They were later married in the Manti temple on Sept. 18, 1975, after Dean served an LDS mission in Bolivia. When Dean returned home from his mission, he earned a business degree from Southern Utah University, married Debra, and raised his three sons: Russell (Marsha Terry), Brett (Jenny Terry), and Alex (Rochelle Terry) Gifford.
Dean loved athletics. He was also passionate about his music: singing, playing instruments, and entertaining others. He loved playing in the Gifford family band with his parents and sisters. He found great joy in serving others. He loved gardening and gave away much produce to neighbors, friends, and family. He was an active member of the LDS church all of his life, serving cheerfully in many capacities. He was an example of the power of faith, and the power of kindness.
His siblings include: Jeri Lawrence, JoAnne Tiedt, Darwin Gifford, and Joyce Spencer. He was a loving Grandpa of 10 grandchildren: Kesley, Bridger, Corben, Makayla, Kaitlyn, Brielle, Kylie, Daxton, Tyler and Zoe.
Dean will be sorely missed by his family and many friends.
