There must have been a great reunion in Heaven as Dean Lee Payne age 85 passed away July 15, 2014 in St. George, Utah due to health complications. His sparkly blue eyes and happy demeanor will surely be missed. Those who knew him will remember him best by his strong character, core values, his quick wit and contagious sense of humor. Dean was a devoted husband and tirelessly took care of his wife Dora, for many years as she dealt with health issues.
Dean lived in Trenton, Brigham City, Willard and at the time of his passing in St. George, Utah. Dean was born June 9,1929 in Trenton, UT. to Charles N. and Rosabel Larsen Payne. Dean is survived by his sweet wife Dora June Nelson Payne of St George, Sons: Kerry (Carma) Payne of St. George, Donn (Robyn) Payne of Grantsville, and Ted (Rosalie) Payne of Sandy. He was blessed with eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He grew up on a small farm in Trenton and was the fourth child of eight children. He was preceded in death by six siblings; which Milton, Alta, DeVerl, Earl Veloy, Norma Jean and Linda Lu. Dean's dear sister Elva (Boyd) Ellis of Brigham City was at his side at the time of his passing.
Dean honorably served our country in the Korean war from 1950 to 1952. His unit, 204th Field Artillery, was engaged in many battles and at times completely surrounded by the enemy. Dean returned home after which he was employed by Fram Corp from 1952 until he retired in 1994.
Dean is member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served valiantly in many positions in the Church throughout his life, one of which was serving in the Ogden Temple for several years. Dean loved to camp and fish, play golf and table games with his family and friends. He passed along his passions and unwavering core values to his sons, Kerry, Donn and Ted. They love the game of golf, camping, hunting and fishing.
Dean will be missed but never forgotten. A viewing will be held Saturday, July 19, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Sun River LDS Chapel located at 4461 S. Country Club Drive, St. George, Utah. There will be a graveside service on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00am at the Brigham City Utah Cemetery.
