Donald Ramon Hill – age 85 of SunRiver, St. George fulfilled his final wish as he passed away peacefully at home, February 7 2016.
Don was born Aug 11,1930 to Linwood and Clara Hill and spent his early childhood in Star Valley, Wyoming, where his pioneer ancestors had homesteaded. The family moved to Oregon during World War II where he graduated from Weston High School in 1948. He was student body president and lettered in 5 sports. The next 4 years he served in the Navy where he was a plane captain on an aircraft carrier during the Korean war. Don graduated from Oregon State University in 1957 with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He spent the next 30 years in electronic research and development, including designing electronics for space exploration and the Jarvik Heart at the University of Utah Division of Artificial Organs.
On August 29, 1952 he married his lifelong sweetheart Mary Ingram. Their family includes 2 sons: Kim (Renelly) and Kris (Merry), 2 daughters: Teri Mokrani and Cindy Loeber (Wayne), 12 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Cleoma Wendler(Glen), and brother Mike (Valerie), and was preceded in death by his brother Steve (Marlene).
His priority was family first and their many vacations together were some of his favorite memories. He always enjoyed outdoor sports and activities, especially skiing, boating, and camping and was known as an excellent dancer. Since retirement his dogs, tennis and then pickleball were his loves. He was an accepting, loving, and caring man who always said “I had a wonderful life” .
A Celebration of his life will be held on Feb 20, 2016 from 2:00-5:00pm at his home 4891 Bonita Bay Dr. and a second Celebration will be held this summer in Star Valley Wyoming.
