Donald Franklin Latimer passed away peacefully June 4, 2011 in his home in St. George, UT. He was born in Salt Lake City, UT on June 1, 1922 to Jasper Franklin Latimer and Maude Erma Walker. His family moved to Blackfoot, ID just in time for him to meet, fall in love with and marry his sweetheart, Ora Elison. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 26, 1942. He then served his country in WWII.

Don was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in numerous callings including, Scout Master, Bishop and Temple Worker. He and Ora also served a mission together. Don was a builder by trade and loved to work with wood. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and the beauties of nature. Quietly serving his family and others was his passion.

Don is survived by his wife Ora of 69 years, his ten children: Carol (Lindon) White, Dixie (Dale) Sly, Hal (Annette) Latimer, Jonna (Robert) Stanworth, Jan (Dennis) Jorgensen, LuAnn (Craig) White, Lori (Mike) DeMille, Dawn Tatum, Nancy (Mike) Hallewell and Lora Lyn (Keith) Loomis, his brother Russell Latimer, two sisters: Phyllis Woodbury and Afton Heinecke, fifty-six grandchildren and ninety-nine great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, son-in-law Michael Pender, a grandson, Michael Pender Jr. and two great-grandchildren: Breanne White and Sarah Ann White.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the Morningside Stake Center at 881 S River Road. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the Tonaquint Cemetery, under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.
