Donna Fry

January 30, 1927 — January 13, 2017

Donna Ruth (Reed) Fry passed away on January 13, 2017 in Saint George, Utah. She was born January 30, 1927 in Portland, Oregon to Stephen J. Reed and Sylvia (Stringham) Reed. She was the youngest of three children.


Donna lived a full life and was very talented. She raised seven of her eight children. She was a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in music positions all of her life. She served as ward chorister and choir director in several wards. She also served in music in ward and stake Primary, Young Women and Relief Society organizations. She served as Relief Society President and was the outstanding support for her husband in his church and daily activities. She had an outstanding vocal voice and sang solos as well as duets and trios. She served three LDS missions with her husband.


She was talented in other areas also. Donna was a china painter and created many beautiful objects. She was an avid miniaturist. She has been a member of the National Association of Miniaturists Enthusiasts for many years. She has created hundreds of miniature settings in 1" as well as 1/4" scale and was still involved in the activity just a couple of days before her passing.
Donna is honored by her family. Surviving her is husband Grant Kay Fry, a son Grant Reed Fry and his wife Loretta E. Fry, a daughter Susan Ann Waldvogel and her husband Carl W. Waldvogel, a son David Lynn Fry and his wife Teresa Fry, a son Clifford Ross Fry and Janice Fry, a son Stephen James Fry and his wife Marie Fry, a son Timothy Lee Fry and his wife Wendy Jean Fry and a daughter Cheryl Marie Hight and her husband Richard Hight. She has 43 grandchildren and 121 great grand children and 1 great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son Duane K. Fry, who died at eight and a half months.


Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:00 P.M., at the chapel at 912 S. 1740 E. (Formaster Dr.) in St. George, Utah.  A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on January 20, 2017 in the City Cemetery in Salt Lake City, Utah.  A viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday January 18 at the Formaster Chapel and at 12:00 on Thursday before the funeral. Remembrances should be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Humanitarian Program or other worthy endeavors, if desired.
