Doris Jean Russell Cushing

St. George, UT – Doris Jean Russell Cushing, 89, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025, in St. George, Utah, after struggling with dementia. She was born on May 26, 1935 in Price, Utah to Kenneth and Nola Russell. 

She married George R. Cushing in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 3, 1966. They would later be sealed in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on August 20, 1988. 

Doris had several passions some of which included doll making, barrel racing, training horses, and working the farm with her father. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

She is survived by her children, JoAnn Rogers, Ronald Jennings, Cynthia (Brent) Gailey, Richard (Karen) Cushing, her grandchildren Jeremy (Lisa) Rogers, Lisa Huguet, Amanda Gailey, Jason Gailey, Isabella Langdon, Michael Lappalainen, Korrine (Brandon) Heffron, Matthew (Giovanna) Lappalainen, and many other loving family members. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, daughter Deborah, her parents Kenneth and Nola, and her sister, Judy, and brother, Kenny.  

Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 20, 2025, at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1905 Rustic Drive, St. George, UT. The viewing will be from 1:00 -1:45 pm prior to the service. Interment will take place on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at the Binghampton Cemetery in Tucson, AZ.
