Earl Douglas Sanders Jr., 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at his home in St. George, UT. He was born May 31, 1930 in Hancock, Houghton, Michigan to Miriam & Earl Douglas Sanders. He married Barbara Gayle Kirchen on August 6, 1950 in Milwaukee, WI. After 32 years of marriage, Barbara passed away. He married Kay Donna Marion on January 12, 1983 in Mexico. After 24 years of marriage, Kay passed away. He married Tari Kay Petersen on July 12, 2008 in Las Vegas, NV.
Earl was raised in Milwaukee, WI. He joined the Marine Corp Reserve and was called up for the Korean War and was a proud veteran for the rest of his life. He also lived in CA, NM, WA, and UT. He provided for his family as a Master Baker. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Family History Center in Los Angeles, CA for six years, and he loved serving in the temple.
He is survived by his wife, Tari Sanders, and children: Earliene (& Steve) Gallagher, Leeshia (& John) Severance, Lendell (& LeGrand) Johnson, Leslie (& Harry) Mitchell, Lehi (& Debbie) Marion, Lawrence (& Holly) Marion, Laura (& Charlie) Warfield, Leonard Marion, Luke (& Jennifer) Marion Sanders, Layne (& Rumya) Marion Sanders, Keith (& Evelyn) Petersen, Kevin (& Megan) Petersen, Todd (& Rhonda) Petersen, Mark (& Susan) Petersen, and 76 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
His brother, Gary Sanders, and his sons Chuck and Doug Sanders preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 912 South 1740 East, St. George, UT (the Foremaster Ridge building). Visitation will be prior to services from 9:00-10:45 a.m. at the same location. Interment will be at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Boulder City Nevada.
