Elaine Allred Prince, 96, passed away on November 7, 2024 in Washington, UT. She was born February 18, 1928 in Provo, UT to Charles Henry Allred and Cosette Brown Allred. She married Merl Prince in Las Vegas, NV, on September 15, 1946.
Elaine was the youngest of 8 children raised in Provo by parents of pioneer heritage. She attended school in Provo and at the Brigham Young Academy. She was working at Bryce Canyon National Park one summer when a bus driver from New Harmony noticed her in his rearview mirror, seated at the back of the bus. After a short courtship, the two were married in Las Vegas and later sealed to one another in the Logan Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Merl and Elaine were the parents of three children: Pamela, Debra, and Jonathan. Merl and Elaine lived in Davis, California, for most of their married lives, returning to New Harmony (summers) and to Bloomington (winters) in later years. Elaine was an outstanding cook. She also loved gardening, listening to music, and browsing in stores. Merl was employed in residential real estate development/sales while Elaine kept the home. They traveled extensively and also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and sightseeing together.
Elaine is survived by her daughter, Pam (Lee) McCullough, her son, Jonathan (Joni) Prince, both residents of Washington, UT, and her son-in-law, Norman Allan, of New Harmony, UT; 14 grandchildren and many great- and great-great grandchildren.
