Elma Bundy

September 7, 1925 — January 2, 2016

Elma Lorraine Bundy age 90, passed away on January 2, 2016 in St. George, UT surrounded by her loving family. Lorraine was born in Lodgepole, SD on September 7, 1925 to Aanon and Louise Gunderson.  She married James Bundy on June 21, 1951 in Hettinger, ND.  Born in a sod house to immigrant parents, Lorraine grew up on a sheep ranch where she graduated from high school in Hettinger, ND.

After receiving her teaching degree from St. Olaf College, Lorraine married Jim Bundy and had three children – Jay, Martha and Chuck. They moved to Moorhead, MN where Jim started a veterinary practice.  Lorraine’s life revolved around her family and volunteer work. She spent many years skiing, camping and traveling. She had been privileged to travel extensively, visiting countries on almost every continent.  After celebrating an anniversary trip in Norway, Jim was unexpectedly killed and Lorraine’s life was rerouted. Many cold winters in Moorhead, MN brought Lorraine to make a second home in St. George, UT where her life revolved around her children, her grandchildren and her church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to: Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Trust Fund, Moorhead, MN; New Promise Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, St. George, UT; St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN; Global Health Missions, Minneapolis, MN.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 11:00am at the New Promise Lutheran Church located at 244 S. Valley View Drive, St. George, Utah.
