Delaine Anderson
Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Esther Delaine Guymon Anderson passed away peacefully on Thursday December 21, 2017 in St. George, Utah, with many family members by her side.
Delaine was born January 24, 1932 in Elmo, Utah. She was the 2nd of 5 Children born to Archie Thomas Guymon and Ellen Blanch Nelson Guymon. She married Robert Charles Anderson on August 3, 1952. They lived in Germany for a year while Robert served in the military. Their marriage was sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple on May 18, 1962.
They settled in Boise, Idaho where they raised their four children, Lora Lee, Richard, Robert, and Lenae. She taught her children to be strong, religiously devoted, and provident. In 1973 they moved to St. George and opened an Ice Cream Shop. They enjoyed living by their children in Twin Falls, Portland, then again in St. George.
Delaine was an active member of the LDS Church, and served in many capacities throughout her life. She attended the temple regularly. She was the master example of selfless service, at home, at church, and in the community. Later in life she served as a Senior Companion for fourteen years, serving an average of 10 clients a week. She earned the President’s Call To Serve Award. Her acts of kindness and service extended to all of her acquaintance.
Delaine was a hard worker, and always kept busy. She liked new adventures and loved to garden; but most of all, she loved the time she spent doing things with her family. She loved and devotedly cared for each member of her family. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Delaine was preceded in death by her husband Robert C. Anderson, two sisters, Coral Hill and Elva Findlay. She leaves behind 2 brothers, Nelson and Marvin Guymon, her children, Lora Lee (Kim) Talbot, Richard (Karen) Anderson, Robert (Sumie) Anderson, Lenae (Ken) Trent, 14 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday , December 30, at 11:00 a.m. at the Southgate Chapel located at 1068 W. Chandler Drive, St. George, Utah. Friends may pay their respects before the funeral service between 9:30 to 10:45 at the Southgate Chapel. Interment at Tonaquint Cemetery.
