Florence Rose Guyett, 96, passed away on January 20, 2023, at Seasons Health and Rehab in St George, Utah. She was born in Providence, Rhode Island on October 12,1926 to William and Florence (Paine) Sullivan.
After graduating from Providence's Central High School, Florence was accepted into the United States Cadet Nurse Corp (CNC). The CNC was supervised by the United States Public Health Service (PHS) to train nurses during WW2. At the completion of her training, Florence's intention was to join the Army Nurse Corps to serve in the Pacific. However, the war ended before her subsequent graduation from nursing school.
On May 28, 1949 she married Earle B. Guyett at St. Michael's Church in Providence. They built a house in Warwick, Rhode Island, and they lived there from 1950- 1979. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage together until his death in 2009.
During her nursing career, she worked at Pawtucket Memorial, St Joseph's, and Kent County Memorial hospitals, all in Rhode Island. Florence also worked in the two laundromats that she and Earle owned.
After retirement, Earle and Florence enjoyed traveling around the United States in their RV. They lived in California, Florida, Texas and Oregon before moving into their new home in Ivins, Utah in 1991.
Florence loved crossword puzzles, chocolate, TV game shows, watching the hummingbirds from her window, and decorating her home for various holidays.
She is survived by her children, Rosemary (Osvaldo) Marchi of Ivins; Earle (Lori) M. Guyett of Sebastian, Florida; grandchildren, Erik Marchi of Ivins; Christina Marchi of the U.S. Virgin Islands; Alicia (Shane) Anderson of Virgin, Utah; Aaron Guyett of San Diego, California; Jesse Guyett of Manchester, New Hampshire; great grandchildren, Stella Rose Anderson of Virgin; Asher Guyett of Manchester; Lucas Guyett of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle B. Guyett, her sister Irene, and her brothers William and Vincent.
Interment will be at the Veteran's Cemetery of Southern Nevada in Boulder City.
