Frances Dawn Peterson Baker
1936-2017
Frances Baker passed away on Saturday November 11, 2017 with her eternal sweetheart of 60 years, Richard T. Baker, by her side at their home in St. George, Utah. Frances was born in Ogden, Utah to Frank Alfred Peterson and Nellie May Peterson on March 30, 1936. From the very beginning, she had a sparkle in her eye, a smile on her face and love in her heart. She spoke frequently of the joy and love she felt growing up with her two older sisters in Holladay, Utah.
Frances loved telling the story of Richard asking for her hand in marriage while serving on a mission in England. After Richard returned home, they married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 15, 1957. They began their new adventure together raising their children in Sacramento, California.
Frances devoted her life to her family and those that she loved. She was a full-time mother and loved that job most of all. Her children recall her constant encouragement, love and patience. Frances was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She actively worked in many callings, including serving a mission with Richard in California.
A primary passion of Frances' was traveling, which started with tent camping as a family and evolved to traveling the world. There are not many places that Frances and Richard did not explore together.
Frances loved her role as a grandmother, having 17 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and she was excited about the two great-grandchildren on the way. She spread her joy of traveling to her grandchildren, bringing them on “grand camp” adventures around the country and the world.
Frances is survived by her devoted husband Richard Baker, children Steve (Jane), Doug (Bonnie), Andy (Heather) and Camille. She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Shirley Petersen, Carol Clark and Shauna Peterson.
It is difficult to say goodbye to someone you love so much. Frances will be deeply missed by all those she touched. We will miss the sparkle in her eye, the smile on her face and the love in her heart.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the many caregivers, family members and close friends that cared for Frances.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00pm at the St. George Utah Sunset LDS Stake Center located at 82 N. Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.
Goodbyes are not forever, they are not the end; it simply means I'll miss you until we meet again.
