Frances Adelaide Kennedy Wallace, 86, Died January 24, 2022 at her home with family in Washington UT. Frances was born April 3, 1935 in Milbridge, Maine to Arnold and Gladys Kennedy. She married Clarke Wallace Jr. in Milbridge, Maine on August 28, 1954. Later Solemnized August 19, 1963 in the Logan temple.
She was raised in the small town of Milbridge and graduated from Milbridge High in 1953. She enjoyed spending much time outdoors…riding bikes, clamming with her father, ice-skating, raking blueberries and much more. She loved the New England coast. She sang in the church choir and enjoyed the towns weekly movies and dances. She played forward on her High School basketball team and cheerleader for the boys’ basketball team. After graduation she headed to the big city of Boston to find work and start a new chapter of her life. She soon met her husband to be. As a young family living in Massachusetts, Clarke and Frances were converted and baptized as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on October 19, 1957. With 4 children left at home Clarke and Frances felt prompted to move their family to St. George Utah in 1979 despite being uncertain about future employment. Frances served in many callings in Relief Society, but much of her service over the years was with the children in Primary. She devoted much time to Temple work and ministering others. She provided care for her own Mother for many years.
Frances found her calling in life nurturing children. After raising 9 children of her own she found her place working for Headstart preschool. She loved working with preschoolers and worked 25 years until the age of 75 years, although she still was not ready to give it up. There were many preschoolers who would recognize her years down the road who would call out “Mrs. Wallace” and embrace her with a big hug. This brought her great joy! She absolutely loved being a mother and grandmother! As a women of great influence, wisdom, and respect…she was the Matriarch of our very large family that held us all together. She lived her life as a follower of Jesus Christ in all that she did.
She was preceded in death by parents, brother David Kennedy, her husband Clarke Wallace (2008) and 2 grandsons Brian Wallace and Brock Cottle (Sandra).
She is survived by her children Joni Tate, Susan Dennison (Mike), Jeffrey Wallace, Ellen Lang (Anthony), Debra Young (Kyle), Janice Johnson (Marv), Christine Eschler (Matt), Peter Wallace (Brittany), and Cindy Wallace.
