Fred Peterson

d. December 26, 2014

Fred was 83 and passed away December 26, 2014 from the many affects of a stroke he suffered in 2000. He was in the Southern Utah Veterans Home - Ivins, surrounded by his loving family and members of the Veterans Home staff. He was born June 19, 1931 in Lark, UT. Fred was adopted and raised by his grand parents: David and Zelma Peterson. He married LoAnn Davies in Kauai, Hawaii on May 13, l987.

Fred is survived by his wife, LoAnn, son Scott (Paula) Castle Rock, CO, daughter Lori (Mark) Anger, West Valley, UT, step children Michael (Cydney) Palmer, St. George, UT, Jody (Jerry) Berger, Draper, UT. He had 10 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

Fred was raised in Lark, UT (a mining community for Kennecott Copper). He was a member of the LDS Church, attended high school in Bingham, UT where he graduated and later took several educational courses. He served four years in the United States Navy, during the Korean War as an Aviation Mechanic, aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Sitkoh Bay.

He was an accomplished artist and many are enjoying his paintings in their homes. He loved to cook, especially dutch-oven providing meals for several friends at outings. Fred could fix anything - he used to say he could fix everything but the crack of day and a broken heart - and he did! It was difficult to get anything new - it was just fixed... .
He was an avid model airplane builder, flyer, fix up again – and belonged to several flying clubs. He was a baseball coach for 12 years and loved teaching the youth.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 South Dixie Drive.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Southern Utah Veterans Home - Ivins, 160 North 200 East, Ivins, UT 84738.

We would like to thank all the loving, dedicated medical people who gave so much to Fred - The Vets, Red Cliffs Rehabilitation, Rocky Mountain Home Health, Dixie Regional Hospital, HealthSouth Rehab, Logan Regional Hospital and the many doctors.
