It is with a heavy heart and great sorrow that we share that Zack Ethridge took his life in the early morning hours of June 2, 2022.
George Zackary Clifford Ross Ethridge was born February 16, 1976 to Chris Ethridge and Karen Sue (Holindrake) in Tujunga, California. As with many families, Zack grew up between parents. His mom moved to Utah and his father to Mississippi after their divorce. Zack spent most of his youth with his father in Meridian, Mississippi, loved by family.
Zack was a natural athlete and played baseball competively in middle school and High school and loved to golf with his Dad and Uncle Joey.
He lived in Salt Lake City for early elementary and some high school.
Zack lived in Taos, NM when he was 15 for a summer, riding bikes and swimming in the Rio Grande with friends. He returned at 17 and helped at the family restaurant in Angel Fire, where he learned culinary skills from his brother in law.
Zack reunited with his mom at age 19, in St George Utah, and soon met his future wife, Amber.
Karen’s best friend, Dana Spencer, encouraged Karen to move to a new housing development in Littlefield, AZ. Soon Zack and Amber joined her and they welcomed baby Cierra into the world. Zack helped to create a beautiful oasis in the desert and he made many lifelong friends in this community.
He loved games and he was good at games of strategy and math. He was quickly enticed to join his mother at the casino and excelled as a card dealer and later, a floor manager.
Zack loved to create with his hands. He made several beautiful rock ponds and waterfalls for his mom. John taught Zack carpentry and they worked together for a decade- building houses and installing custom flooring.
After Zack’s mother passed in 2020, Zack moved to Taos to be with his sister and family. They felt blessed to have Zack in Taos for a year during Covid, and as was his nature, he made friends easily and was in high demand for his carpentry knowledge. He had planned to return to Taos this summer to help his nieces after the death of their father in March.
Zack is preceded in death by his father Chris Ethridge (2012) and his mother Karen Sue Sanderson (2020).
He is survived by uncles Tommy and Joey Ethridge, sister Necia Ethridge, (Shane Atkinson), brother John Ethridge, daughter Cierra, son Warren, nieces Zoe Larsen, Deva Larsen, Breanne Larsen, Emma Atkinson, Enecia Ethridge, and Nephew Austin Ethridge, former spouse, Amber.
Family in heart-
Erick Gambetta, Dana Spencer, Erica & Ezra Nuttall, Monique Parsons, Ellie Faulkner, Gina Puttnam and Family, Susan and Josh Newell, Bill Evans, and all the beautiful people from Beaver Dam.
There will be a memorial held in his honor, Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 5-8pm at the Beaver Dam Bar located at 401 Co Hwy 91, Littlefield, AZ 86432.
A note from Cierra Ethridge:
He was loved by a community, and had so many people looking up to him. My dad was an outstanding man, the way he cared, loved, and carried himself. He made sure to put smiles on everyone’s face. His name would light up a room, and people would talk to him for hours. Dad, you are such a special man to not only me but a community. I will cherish you and live for you. So close to my heart, now it’s you’re home.
