Glen Hatch

July 4, 1930 — November 1, 2019

Hurricane, Utah

Glen Lewis Hatch, age 89, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 in Highland, Utah. He was surrounded by family as he was reunited with his Savior and his beloved wife, “Joanie.”

Glen was born in Vernal, Utah to Charles A. Hatch and Mary Coleman Lewis. Glen attended Uintah High School where he met his future wife, Joan DeJournette. After graduation, they were married in Vernal and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Glen loved Joan deeply and once wrote that Joan was a “beautiful, intelligent, spiritual girl with exceptional judgement” and he could not “conceive of any future existence without Joan at his side.”

Glen was successful throughout his career as a businessman. He actively served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He loved the scriptures and was a gifted teacher of the gospel through word and example.

Glen is known for his many extraordinary talents and attributes. He was an avid golfer, impressive writer, incredible storyteller, and his sense of humor continually delighted all who associated with him. He bestowed a love of music on his family. He once commented that he could not sing a correct note if his life depended on it, but he was an excellent professional listener.

Glen is preceded in death by his wife Joan, who passed just two weeks before him, on October 18, 2019. He leaves behind his children Linda Lee, Mary Lou (Ron) Pearce, Kathy (Scott) Mitchell, Rebecca Maesato, and David (Mey) Hatch; 36 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; his dear cousin, Dick Hullinger (JeNee); and many friends, neighbors, and ward members who admired him.

Glen was buried at the Jolley-Gifford Cemetery in Springdale, Utah on November 4, 2019.

A memorial service to honor both Joan and Glen will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Hurricane 11th Ward Chapel, 452 N 2600 W, Hurricane. In lieu of flowers, Glen requested that donations be made to the Humanitarian Aid Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (ldsphilanthropies.org).
