Glen "Douglas" Briggs, 64, of St George Utah, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in St George Utah. The cause of death was brain cancer.

Doug was born to Glen A. and Lauella M. Hardy Briggs on March 5, 1946 in the city of Rigby, Idaho. He grew up in Rigby and graduated from Ririe High School where he played basketball. He joined the US Navy and served his country in the Vietnam War. He met and married Jean Brock (Smith) while in Virginia. He received degrees from Ricks College and BYU. He and Jean had four children, after they separated he moved to Pocatello.

In Pocatello he met and married his wife, Linda Barton Hailstone, on July 14, 1984; later they were sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple. He was active in the LDS church. His hobbies were dancing, sports, and family history. He loved travel and went with his wife on many cruises and trips. Doug worked until his retirement from the Idaho Job Service in 2007, and then moved to St George to enjoy the sun and the plentiful outdoor activities.

Doug is survived by his wife and children (spouse): Steve Brock (Holly), Chris Brock (Natasha), Darren Brock (Michelle), Ryan Briggs (Becky), Sherri Stacey (Brett), and Brittany Tower (Matt), Neichell Jones (Jon), Kori Zinszer (Shawn), Kelley Hailstone (Pam), Cody Hailstone, Travis Hailstone (Lauren), and Todd Hailstone. They have 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sister: Brent Briggs (Connie), Rod Briggs (Pam), Debbie McCallister (Craig), and Zane Briggs (Andrea). Doug is predeceased by his parents and his son Kipper Briggs.

A memorial service will be held 2 pm, January 19 th at the LDS Sun River Chapel located at 4461 S Country Club Dr, St George Utah. Funeral services will be held at 11 am, January 22 nd at the LDS Brookhaven Chapel located at 190 N Country Ln, Fruit Heights Utah, and will be preceded by a viewing at 10 am. Burial will follow graveside services at Kaysville City Cemetery in Kaysville Utah.
