Jack married Connie Celestia Ward on October 7, 1949, their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jack served in numerous callings throughout his life. Two of his favorite callings were temple worker in the Ogden Temple and executive secretary in the Mall Drive Branch.
Jack joined the army in 1946 where he was stationed at Fort Lee , Virginia and then was sent to serve as a clerk at The Presidio at San Francisco. He was discharged in November 1948. Jack worked for the Ogden Post Office for 11 years and then transferred to Hill Air Force Base where he worked for 24 years as a branch chief and contract officer. Jack resided in Roy, Utah for 36 yrs and during that time he was a member and President of the Roy Jaycees. He also served 22 years on the Roy City Planning Commission and as a councilman.
Jack loved sports, especially baseball. As a young man he coached the younger kids in his home town of Wellsville, Utah. He also loved to fish and go pheasant hunting. Later in life he took up golfing and loved to go with his brothers when the opportunity came along. Jack and Connie loved to travel and often went with his little sister Bonnie and her husband. It was during this time that he learned to enjoy square dancing.
Jack is survived by his wife Connie; children, Christine (Brent) Arave; Pamela (Brent) Wood; Richard (Debbie) Seamons; and Lynette (Mark) Palmer; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and his sister Bonnie Hall.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 4 brothers and his grandson Travis Brent Wood.
Funeral services will be held Saturday April 9, 2011 at the Mall Drive Branch Chapel, 259 N. Mall Drive. Family will meet with friends prior to the service, 9:30 – 10:45.
There will be a viewing for friends and family in the Ogden Area Sunday evening at the Lakeview Chapel in Roy from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, 4900 S 2000W.
Graveside Services will be held Monday, April 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lindquist Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road South Ogden.
