James H. “Jim” Acton: Passed peacefully Monday morning. Born 17 July 1928, in Indianapolis, IN to Miriam H. Davis and Jesse Howard acton. Graduated from Munice Central High School (1947)- participating in football, basketball and track; and Ball State (1953)- where he played football. After college, he served in the Air Force, flying 20 years.

Married Helene M. Daniel (1957)a�"later divorced. Married Gayle White Pierce 11 Nov. 1967. They were sealed in the St. George Temple 27 Sep. 2008.

Jim's last assigned aircraft was the reconnaissance RF-4C, in which he completed a combat tour in South East Asia in 1968 flying 115 combat missions–100 over North Viet Nam; retired 1973 as a Lt. Colonel with an aeronautical rating of Master Navigator. Awarded two Distinguished Flying Crosses and 11 Air Medals.

After retiring, completed a graduate degree in Guidance and Counseling from the U. of Idaho; worked as a counselor in Weber School District, Ogden, UT for 14 years.

Survived by wife Gayle, son James Acton II, California; stepson Kelly Pierce (Julie), Virginia; stepdaughter Kristy Lucero (David), Hawaii; grandchildren, Sandy Pierce, Joshua and Nathan Pierce, Sam Cluff, and two great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Etta Jane Ayers.

Graveside Services noon Thursday, 5 April, Tonaquint Cemetery.
