Janet Ruth Fowlkes, 81, of Santa Clara, Utah, passed away October 18, 2016 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born July 25, 1935, in Nowata, Oklahoma to Carl William and Minnie “Mabel” Housel. She married her high school sweetheart, Alan Thomas Fowlkes, on August 2, 1952.
Janet was the true definition of beauty and grace. She loved to fish and crochet, was content to sit on the back porch and listen to the birds and admire her flowers, and never let a day go by without letting her family and friends know how much she loved them. She took pride in the smallest of tasks, like decorating the top of a potato salad with flowers made of celery leaves and red onion. She was a supportive wife and a loving mother of two daughters. She will forever be missed.
She is survived by her loving husband, Alan, of 64 years, her daughters Terra Lynn (Derek) Mulliner of Las Vegas, Nevada and Linda Joyce (Layne) Felton of Hailey, Idaho, a sister, Joyce (Bernie) Cooper, brother, William (Valerie) Housel, 7 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held October 22, 2016, at the Santa Clara Stake Center, 1705 Desert Dawn Drive, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be Friday, October 21, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at the Santa Clara Stake Center. Interment will be at the Santa Clara Cemetery under the direction of McMillan Mortuary (435) 688-8880. Condolences may be shared at mcmillanmortuary.com
