Jay Lynn Bush 1933-2014 Jay slipped away peacefully on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Season's Rehab Facility following a 30 month struggle with Multiple Myeloma and Alzheimer's. He was born April 29, 1933 in Malad, Idaho to Jay Clair and Leatha Amelia De St. Jeor Bush. The family moved to Tooele, Utah when Jay Lynn was 8 years old, where he spent his childhood and graduated from Tooele High School. After 2 years of service in the Army, Jay returned to Salt Lake to attend the U of U. While serving as Speech Director in the YM MIA, he met Patricia Dearing, who served in YW MIA. Jay and Patricia were married on Sept. 17, 1956 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Their early years were spent in Ogden, Morgan, and Logan, Utah while Jay worked for Burroughs Adding Machine Co. and Hill Air Force Base. In 1970, they moved to Polson, MT where Jay worked as Finance Manager for the Polson School District. It was a small district and Jay also drove one of the school buses, which he loved especially the extra trips transporting the band and cheerleaders to out of town games. In Polson, he served as counselor to two Bishops and as a member of the Kalispell Stake High Council. In 1983, Jay accepted a job offer as Florence-Carlton Finance Manager and they moved to the Bitterroot area. The Florence-Carlton District was larger than Polson, but still small and Jay supervised the hot lunch program in addition to office duties. His church service at this time included Stake Finance Clerk and Bishop of the Stevensville 2nd Ward. In 1990, Jay and Patricia moved to Albany, Oregon to manage apartments for Guardian Management Co, where they managed complexes in Albany, Salem, Oregon City, and the Dalles until 1996 when Jay decided to retire and they moved to St. George, Utah. Jay's church service in St. George included Sunday School leadership, High Priest secretary, and several Service Missions – Extracting Family History and Member Locator, where he enjoyed encouraging members to return to activity. Jay's hobbies and interest were in the Cultural Arts, scriptures, and reading everything from cereal boxes to Shakespeare. He had a deep knowledge and understanding of the gospel. He possessed a keen sense of humor and the ability to see the funny side of situations. Jay was an excellent public speaker. For several years, Jay and Patricia enjoyed season's tickets to the Southwind Symphony Orchestra and the St. George Musical Theatre. Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Sam", brother Dan (Gay), sisters Judy (Ray) Law and Mary (Gayle) Allen. Special thanks is extended for excellent loving care and friendship to Dr. Heather Gilbert, the staff at Huntsman Cancer Center, Dr. Brad Thompson, Dr. Alden Yates, Dixie Hospice and the Season's Rehab Facility.
