Jay Paul Spencer passed away November 11, 2014 at the age of 90 at his home in St. George, Utah surrounded by his family. He was born on November 29, 1923 in Portland, Oregon to Earl and Lavina Brown Spencer. He was a member of the LDS church. He married LaRue Kunz on September 4, 1959. They resided in Ogden, Utah for 55 years and recently moved to St. George with their 2 daughters. He was raised in Roy, Utah and proudly served in the US. Army. He served in WWII in numerous countries. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1973 and spent the next years of his life traveling with his loving wife. He loved to fish and hunt and see new places. They spent many winters visiting Yuma, Arizona. He loved to make money playing keno while spending some winters in Laughlin, Nevada. He loved his trailer and truck. He was a very thrifty man in order to be generous when he needed to be. He is survived by his beautiful wife LaRue, two daughters Judy Kay Altman and Barbara (Kenneth) Martin all of St. George, Utah, a sister Nettie Fausto of Harrisville, 3 grandchildren Wendy (Jeffery) Hall, David (Lucinda) Martin, Beazer (Tammy) Martin, 6 great-grandchildren, 9 great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephew, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Sheldon Spencer, Norman Spencer, John Spencer, a sister Maurine Barnum, a son in law Robert Altman and a brother in law Thomas Fausto. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Bloomington Hill LDS Stake Center located at 1130 E. Brigham Road, St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be at the Tonaquint Cemetery under the direction of McMillan Mortuary.
