Jean Hooks

St. George, Utah - Dr. Jean E Hooks, DVM, 66, passed away 8 February 2013 in St George, Utah. Dr. Hooks was born 4 June 1946 in Henderson, Nevada; daughter of Deloris and Maurice Hooks.
Dr. Hooks was active in many facets of life. After graduating from the University of Illinois with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, she was the first woman commissioned in the Army Veterinary Corps. She will be remembered for her 42 years in private small animal practice in both Maryland and Utah and her 20 + years training search and rescue dogs for locating lost / missing persons.
She is survived by her twin sister Jayne Jensen, brothers Maurice and Charlie Hooks, daughter Jess Bushman and Dan, and grandsons Bryce, Brayden, and Paxton Bushman.
Funeral Services will be 16 February 2013 at 10 AM in the New Harmony LDS Chapel located at 12 S. Main, New Harmony, UT; interment to follow at the New Harmony Cemetery with military honors.
