Jean Mangrum Johnson, age 80, left this earth for Paradise as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She returned home to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ on April 14, 2011 at her home after struggling with health problems for many years. Her personality was always happy and positive with a beautiful smile for everyone. Each one loved her for this wonderful gift she had.
Jean was born February 7, 1931 at Bingham Canyon, UT to Arthur and Minnie Mangrum (deceased). She was the only daughter with three older brothers (deceased), Verl, Bud and Gurr.
She attended elementary school (Bingham, UT), junior high school (Garfield, UT), and graduated from Cyprus High School in 1949 (Magna, UT). After high school she worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and for United Airlines.
She married Norris Kay Johnson of Spring City, UT on May 13, 1950. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Jean was an active member of the LDS Church and held many callings including a mission with her husband at the Mormon Battalion Visitors Center in San Diego, CA as tour guides. She gave years of church service while being a homemaker with four children. She served twice as a counselor in the Young Women's Organization, three times as Relief Society counselor and President of the Relief Society and the Primary. She was always a faithful visiting teacher.
Her family was the love of her life. Each one was so special to her. She never forgot a birthday, wedding, blessing or baptism without either attending, a card or a present with all of her posterity. They truly loved and worshiped the wonderful person she was. She spent hours without end on genealogy and making scrapbooks for each person which was a great joy for her and treasured by the family.
Jean is survived by her loving husband, Norris Kay, and her children, Dana Kelvington (Terry), Julie Askerlund (Mark), Bryan Johnson (Ruth), preceded in death by daughter, Desiree. There are 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
