Jeanette C Rawlings

September 1, 1936 — March 20, 2025

Washington, Utah

Our beautiful mother left this earth to join our father; her husband and many loved ones. We are sure she was joyously received on the other side with arms wide open by our beloved Savior in whom she steadfastly believes and faithfully loves. On March 20, 2025, Jeanette Chamberlain Rawlings, 88 passed away at home in Washington, UT.

The first of five children, our Mother was born in Cedar City, UT on September 1, 1936 to Charles Esplin and Zarman Woodbury Chamberlain.

Growing up in Cedar City, mom spent her childhood exploring hills and climbing trees while caring for her younger siblings. Her family moved to Provo when she was teenager where she attended BY High School (Brigham Young), there she met and made lifelong friendships and aspired to attend BYU.

In June of 1954, Mom graduated. That same month on June 25th, she married her sweetheart Donald B. (Barlow) Rawlings in the Salt Lake Temple. Soon after the couple moved to Maryland for two years where Dad was stationed in the Army.

Alongside our father, mom labored to build and worked to pay for their custom home on their portion of the Rawlings family farmland and orchards in Orem, Utah. Mom sewed, gardened and canned, and was an excellent homemaker. Mom and dad carried on the multi generational tradition of breeding, raising and showing & competing Arabian Horses. We spent weekends camping and attending riding club meets and rodeos. As a member of the Orem Riding Club mom competed in barrel racing, pole bending and team roping for years.

While fulfilling her responsibilities as a wife and mother, Mom also considered herself a lifelong student, obtaining her Real Estate License, Paralegal Degree, Lifeguard Certification and more. The time came when Mom could attend Brigham Young University where she graduated with honors and obtained a Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in Special Education.

A woman of many interests, skills and talents, mom was an accomplished seamstress, photographer, crafter, barrel racer, gardener and so much more. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served diligently in Primary, Young Women's and Girl’s Camp. She loved those girls and they loved her. A health and fitness advocate, mom was a recipient of the Presidential Fitness Award. She enjoyed running and daily workouts.

Mom actively enjoyed relationships with all her family and friends. Through the years Mom and Dad tenderly cared for our grandparents whom we all loved and revered.

Kids grow up…. times change and we change. Next, came a move from the family home in Orem to Mom’s parents home on the Woodbury (now Chamberlain) farm in Washington Fields. Here Mom could immerse herself in family history and her rich pioneer heritage. For a short time Mom was a Special Education teacher at the Historical Woodward School in St. George.

Mom appreciated living here surrounded by her large extended family near Aunts, Uncles and more cousins than we can count, not to mention so much of their history here. Mom truly value history and visiting museums, learning and reading about history and studying the Gospel. She has a full library of books.

A member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and devoted Genealogist, Mom became deeply involved in sharing information concerning her Ancestors; their conversions and journeys by recording their part in the building up of Zion. In her later years, she greatly enjoyed volunteering at the Washington City Heritage Museum, organized and managed by the Washington City Historical Society. Her testimony and faithfulness along with her intellect, loving service and work ethic was admired by all.

Never forgotten - Always cherished. We celebrate your life and works, with joy that you have progressed to the next life.

She is survived by her daughters Donnette Rawlings, Jerilyn Rawlings Porcaro, and her son Ryan D. Rawlings (deceased), her grandchildren Heather Loughmiller, Ashley Williams, Tyrell Rawlings, Stephen Porcaro, Austin Olivas, Alex Porcaro, Alyssa Porcaro, Emily Porcaro and her great grandchildren Connor Loughmiller, Kayla Loughmiller, Mia Olivas, Mason Porcaro, Lily Porcaro and Koda Jensen, her brothers Kent Chamberlain (deceased), Bertrum Chamberlain and Robert Chamberlain and her sister Judy Killian, and more than 30 nieces and nephews. Mom is preceded in death by her parents, her son Ryan Donald Rawlings, her husband Donald B. Rawlings and her brother C. Kent Chamberlain.
