Jeanne Brown

d. October 20, 2014

Jeanne Kappel Brown 1927-2014 Jeanne was born on January 8, 1927 into a rural farming community in Arlington, Washington. She married Norman Kappel in 1946 and they lived most of their lives in the Ballard area of Seattle, Washington. Their favorite times were spent at a little cabin on the Skykomish River near Stevens Pass in the Cascade Mountains, until Norm died in 1986. In 1988, Jeanne met Clayton Brown and they were married in 1990. Jeanne and Clay traveled extensively around the world. They enjoyed golf and spent their winters in Arizona. They moved to St. George, Utah in 2005. After Clay's death in 2008, Jeanne's health began to slowly decline and her daughter Gail Kappel, looked after her until she entered Beehive Homes Assisted Living in St. George in 2010. Everyone who met Jeanne was charmed by her kindness, open heart, and welcoming personality. After 35 years of dedicated service, Jeanne retired from JC Penney. She was a fabulous cook & hostess, an avid reader, enjoyed golfing and loved going shopping. Christmas was her favorite holiday. So much so, that she shopped by catalogue all year for Christmas gifts. Jeanne's family meant to world to her... they were her life... her pride & joy! Her passing was amazingly peaceful. Gail and her brother Joseph remained by her bedside until she took her last breath, just after midnight on October 20th. "Momma Jeanne" will continue to live on in our hearts. Her death is a reminder not just of the fragility of a human life span but the celebration of how many lives are touched in our sojourn on earth. May there be peace in our hearts, words and deeds and kindness towards all living beings. She is survived by her daughter Gail Kappel (Ivins, Utah), her son Joseph Kappel, and his wife Catherine Kappel, who live in Leominster, MA.
