Jerry Max Wilkins, age 86, of St. George, Utah, died Friday, December 9, 2011.

Jerry was born December 29, 1924 in Roosevelt, Utah to Orman LaMond Wilkins and Mildred Viola Murray.a�� He attended grade school in Washington, Utah and graduated from Dixie High School in 1941.a��

As a very young boy, he worked the farm in the Washington fields with his dad and brothers.a�� He learneda��the value of hard work which he applied throughout his life as a salesman, electrical contractor and manufacturer of pickup toppers.

Jerry served in the United States Army during World War II.a�� He was deployed October 30, 1943 from Salt Lake City, Utah; serving in the 716 Railway Operation Battalion as a Lineman, T&Ta��specialist and a sharp shooter.a�� He was stationed in Northern France and Germany.a�� He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Victory Medal.a�� He returned home February 26, 1946. He married his high school sweetheart Kathleen Reber, April 14, 1948 in the St. George Temple.

Jerry was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in many church positions.a�� Service to others was always his love in the church.a�� He and his wife Kathleen were stake missionaries for 3 years.a��

Jerry loved to hunt, fish and scuba dive with his sons.a�� He had a special interest in dredging for gold on equipment he designed and built himself.

His wife Kathleen died September 1, 1995 after a lingering illness.a�� He married Darlene Loosli Dangerfield May 25, 1996 in Salt Lake City.

He is survived by his wife Darlene, five children: Linda (Hank) Barenz of Salt Lake City; Larry Keith (Pam) Wilkins of Highland, Utah; LaDonna Ann (Brent) Cox, of Manti, Utah; Jerrie Lee (Craig) Nielsen, Salt Lake City; Ernest LaMond “Lonny” (Vicki) Wilkins, Salt Lake City; 18 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Cody Wilkins of St. George, Utah; Kendyl Wilkins of Redmond, Utah; and 1 sister, Nola Beecroft of Lehi, Utah. Also, Darlene's children: Sandy (Chris) Hart, Clyde (Carol) Dangerfield, Keith Dangerfield, Craig (Joanne) Dangerfield, Karen (Dane) Ruddy, Garth (Noni) Dangerfield, Diane (James) Kilpack, and Lori Capson; her 28 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.a��

He has been preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, his mother and father,a��his brother Keith Wilkins,a��his sister Glenna Cooper, and one great-grandson Davis Williams.

A viewing will be helda��Tuesday, December 13, 2011 in the LDS church, 900 So. RiverRoad, St. George, Utah from 5 to 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at the LaVerkin LDS church, 80 S. 300 W.a�� Friends and family may pay their respectsa��from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to services.a��

Interment will be in the LaVerkin City Cemetery.
