Jessica Mickelsen

June 29, 1987 — June 24, 2016

Jessica Rose Whalen Mickelsen left this earthly existence to the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ on June 24, 2016 in Washington, Utah. Jetta’s beautiful, vibrant, larger-than-life spirit was too much for this earthly existence.

On June 29th 1987 in Bountiful, Utah our family was blessed with a baby girl born to David and Susan Whalen. She was one of six brothers and sisters. Jessica was a happy, joyful little girl with ringlet curls. Jessica was the life of our family. Jessica loved to dance. She was always dancing. Jessica Loved traveling, Disney movies (especially The Little Mermaid), Johnny Depp, Christmastime, shoes, wiener dog puppies and especially cats. Jessica had an infectious laugh and smile. She had a quick witted sense of humor just like her whole family. Jetta was talented at everything she endeavored. Her creative spirit truly defined her.

In 2009, Jessica became Soeur Jetta Whalen as a sister missionary in the Belgium Brussel Netherland Mission. Jessica loved the French language. It came so easy to her. After her mission Jessica found the love of her life, Scott Mickelsen. Scottie had the ability to love and care for Jessica even in dark times. Jessica and Scottie were married on June 17th 2011 in St. George, Utah. Soon after they were blessed with their sweet baby boy Wade Anthony in January of 2012. Then in March 2013 they were again blessed with their beautiful baby girl Ziva Sue. Ziva is the spitting image of her mom. Being a mom was everything to Jessica. She loved being a wife, daughter, and friend. Jessica was the life of any party.

Jessica had numerous people that loved her. There will always be a hole in our family where Jessica was. Jessica is survived by her husband Scott Ryan Mickelsen; her children Wade Anthony and Ziva Sue Mickelsen of Washington, UT; Her parents David and Susan Whalen of Washington, UT; Her Father-in-Law Randy Mickelsen and Mother-in Law Mary Evelyn Mickelsen; Her five siblings: Priscilla (Darren) Jensen of Washington, UT; Daniel (Bari) Whalen of Washington, UT; Becky (Bob) Burns of Wolfforth, TX; Beth (John) Buckmaster of Midlothian, TX; Guy (Sabrina) Whalen of Veyo, UT.

Jessica is preceded in death by her beloved Grandpa Jack Mullins and her favorite cat Babs.

Our family would like to thank all of the first responders and medical staff that attended to Jessica. We would also like to thank the numerous friends all over the world for their prayers, thoughts, and condolences in our families’ behalf.  She was incredibly passionate about life and lived by one motto, “Be the one to guide me, but never hold me down.” Our stunning daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend has left a legacy of love, laughter, uniqueness, and individuality. Jetta is now free, spinning pirouettes in heaven.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016 at 11:00am at the Sienna Hills Chapel, 1500 Ridge View Drive in Washington, Utah. A Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30am prior to services at the same location.
