Jewell Lee Bain Laursen of Hurricane, Utah died December 28, 2021 at home in Hurricane, Utah after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Centerville, IA on February 23, 1947 to Jewell Dwight and Martha Ray Bain.
She was a resident of Ottumwa, IA and attended Ottumwa High School. She was a registered Nurse and worked at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. She later moved to Cheyenne, then Cody, WY and finally in Hurricane, UT where she continued to work as a nurse.
She is survived by her significant other, Fred Reynolds; her son, John Christian Laursen of Ottumwa, IA, and her daughter, Alissa Laursen Welch (Toby) of Dallas Center, IA; four grandchildren, Sunshine and Lucius Laursen and Hannah and Grace Welch; a sister, Deanna Frei (Troy) of Iowa City, IA; four nieces, Kimberly Batterson (David), Jaimee Glazebrook (Ryan), Madison Frei, and Morgan Frei. Also surviving are Fred’s mother, Daisy, and his brothers, Eddie and Chris (Jane).
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and son, Stephen Michael Nord.
Jewell loved flowers and plants, making stained glass projects, and needlework. She was dearly loved by many and will be missed more than we can possibly express. Her faith in God was a blessing and gave her peace.
According to her wishes, she will be cremated and a service will be held at a time to be announced later.
